I have suffered from migraines for 35+ years. Acute migraines can be very difficult to treat. In years past, I would go to the ER or urgent care. I was treated extremely poorly, often leaving feeling worse than when I arrived. One of the times, I was treated as a drug seeker when all I was looking for was an anti-inflammatory IV hydration, which had proved very effective in the past through my PCP‘s office. After that incident, my doctor wrote me a note to present to the ER or urgent care stating a treatment plan as mentioned above. This did not help. My alternative was to go home and suffer the extreme pain. Within the last five years, I have discovered private IV hydration clinics. There, I am treated with compassion and respect. I can receive IV hydration along with an anti-inflammatory and magnesium, which is very effective in reducing migraine symptoms. This has changed my quality of life immensely for the better. My physician is aware of this treatment and supportive because it has improved my quality of life. To be blunt, I would rather take the risk of a possible stroke, which can be easily confused with the symptoms of a migraine, then be treated with such terrible care at an ER or urgent care again. So to put it bluntly, risk my life than be treated as a drug addict or suffer through untreated pain. I am happy to share any further information.
