I strongly oppose HB 1815. This bill is a blatant attempt by Republican and Free Stater lawmakers to water down the definition of an adequate education so the state can dodge its responsibility to properly fund public schools. It is a political maneuver designed to shrink obligations, shift costs to local property taxpayers, and pretend students can thrive on less. Students do not get cheaper to educate because politicians rewrite a definition. Classrooms still need teachers, materials, support services, and safe facilities. Dressing up cuts and cost-shifting as “reform” is dishonest and reckless. This proposal puts ideology ahead of children and undermines the state’s duty to provide a real, fully supported public education. Granite State families should be furious.
