Dear Members of the State House, I am writing from Lebanon, NH to strongly oppose the bill that would make it easier to sue medical professionals for providing gender-affirming care to minors. New Hampshire prides itself on the principle “Live Free or Die.” That value means trusting individuals, families, and medical professionals to make informed decisions without government interference. A person’s medical situation is between them and their doctor. Period. This bill does not protect children. It undermines evidence-based medical care, interferes with the patient-doctor relationship, and creates fear and legal risk for providers acting in good faith and in accordance with accepted medical standards. Policies like this do real harm by discouraging care, increasing stigma, and inserting politics into healthcare decisions that should be guided by medical expertise and compassion. Regardless of personal beliefs, the state should not be weaponizing the legal system against healthcare professionals or families navigating deeply personal medical decisions. Government overreach has no place in exam rooms. I urge you to reject this bill and uphold the values of freedom, privacy, and medical autonomy that New Hampshire claims to stand for.
