I am here in opposition to this bill. This bill would remove important protections for young people who are being denied gender-affirming care or prevented from being raised in affirming environments—despite overwhelming evidence that affirmation supports young people’s mental health and saves lives. I’ve seen how powerful it is when young people are believed, respected, and supported for who they are. Affirming environments help youth feel safe, valued, and able to thrive. When that support is taken away, the harm is real and lasting. This bill puts ideology above the well-being of children and invites government interference into deeply personal family and medical decisions. Instead of protecting young people, it increases their risk of isolation and harm. Our laws should protect youth, listen to medical experts, and support families in caring for their children—not take away life-saving affirmation. I urge you to oppose this bill.
