Helene Bureau

Hello, Thank you for the work you are doing to investigate the the inadequacy of this bill. Goffstown's Select Board members are unpaid stewards of our small town. In addition to all of their current responsibilities, this bill proposes to have them manage the library with the Board of Trustees performing solely in an advisory role. Having been the minute taker for the Library Board of Trustees, I have seen first hand the amount of work they do, again, without compensation. They are governed by state statutes and by the NH Library Trustees Association. Bill 1214 has no benefit to the town. Meeting bi-monthly, the Board of Trustees works for the benefit of the Library and by extension, the town. Removing the LBOT's capacity to manage the Library and adding that charge to the Select Board's duties is nonsensical.
