I am writing to express my strong support for HB 1019 bill that would ban the use of SGARs (second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides) for rodent poisoning. These poisons pose serious threats not only to rodents but also to pets, wildlife, and even children through accidental exposure. Speaking specifically about “wild” predators for example, owls, foxes, hawks, and eagles (yes, Eagles!) keep ecosystems in balance, but rodent poison kills thousands of these animals in New Hampshire each year. Additionally, they disrupt ecosystems and often lead to the suffering of non-target animals (e.g., family pets, livestock). Children are at risk as well if they explore bait stations or find dead or dying animals By passing this bill, you will help protect our communities and the environment while encouraging safer and more humane methods of rodent control. I urge you to vote in favor of this legislation. Thank you for your attention and commitment to public and environmental safety.
