"Current Use" allows larger land owners to "escape" taxation on a property's properly appraised value.. The amount of that "escape" has still to be covered by all the other taxpayers in town to pay for the costs of town government . This foregone revenue must be covered by raising the appraised values of ALL the properties in the town. Thus, CU is a form of tax burden transfer from a usually very well off few to the rest of the very many town's taxpayers.
