Abortion is Healthcare. It is not only a medically necessary procedure for those experiencing ectopic pregnancies, but also for other conditions which make the fetus non-viable. Abortion is solely between a woman and her medical provider. There should be no interference from the state. A woman cannot be forced to carry a fetus to term and termination is a deeply personal choice. Criminalizing the recommendation for abortion from state funded medical facilities would cause extreme harm to women and lead to unnecessary pain and possibly death in cases where abortion is a live saving procedure. Additionally, this bill would cause doctors to place their concern over litigation above their duty to prioritize the health and well-being of their patients, thereby delaying medical care and leading to negative outcomes for pregnant patients.
