This bill is a critical need for New Hampshire. It will create a farmer relief fund for farmers who discover PFAS from sewage sludge application on their farmland, protect farmers from liability tied to PFAS on their farms from sludge, and also ban the use of sewage sludge on agricultural land in NH for the next 5 years (preventing further PFAS contamination). Sewage sludge is actively being applied to land in this state, and farmers have been left on their own to seek out soil and farm product testing, and then any actions necessary to address found PFAS contamination.
