I strongly oppose HB1214 to allow municipal governance of libraries. The Constitution protects freedom of press. Professional librarians and our town's elected library trustees know and protect this right in providing public information. Their expertise allows them to concentrate on information available to the public without considering politics. Our selectmen do not have the accumulated expertise or additional time to deal with the many responsibilities of our town library.
