I am writing as a constituent to urge you to support HB 1277. HB 1277 allows voters to provide their driver’s license number when applying for an absentee ballot instead of having to obtain notarized paperwork or submit copies of identification. This is a simple, commonsense update that removes unnecessary barriers without weakening election security. Currently, absentee voters may have to find and pay for a notary or make extra trips just to complete paperwork. These requirements disproportionately burden seniors, people with disabilities, working families, and voters who cannot easily leave home. HB 1277 modernizes the process while keeping elections secure. This bill strengthens election integrity by creating a clearer, more efficient system for voters and election officials alike. Secure elections should also be accessible and fair, and HB 1277 strikes that balance. I respectfully ask you to support HB 1277.
