I am a New Hampshire parent. After consenting to fifth-grade instruction on human reproduction, we later reviewed the materials and found that they incorporated gender-affirming ideological concepts, such as “sex assigned at birth,” rather than clear biological definitions. We also learned after the fact that teachers had socially affirmed one of our children toward a different gender identity without our knowledge or consent. HB 1376 appropriately protects parents from being labeled abusive for declining these approaches and for maintaining authority over their children’s upbringing.
