SEL curriculum duplicates supports already in place such as: teachers, guidance counselors, administrators and discipline code, IEPs and 504s, parents and family. It takes away from precious instructional time while our test scores are very low. there is no data to support its effectiveness in my district (such as a decline in such things as: behavior referrals to administration, suspensions, calls for assistance from police) it has been reported that the curriculum companies and others are collecting data on individual students without parental consent, to which I am highly opposed!
