As a mental health clinician who is currently employed by a public school, I strongly believe the MTSS-B is a vital component of the education system. Students and families face many barriers with access to mental health resources especially in central and northern areas of the state where the environment is considered more rural. Long wait-lists, service cost, driving time and appointment times outside of school hours are some examples of difficulties families face when seeking mental health support for their child. If a students mental health needs are not adequately being met, this may directly impact their availability as a learner. Please consider keeping MTSS-B in our schools.
