As a member of the Planning Board in Lyme I understand that current use in it's present form is invaluable in keeping land undeveloped and thus keeping our property taxes in check. It is erroneous to think the majority of land in current use is owned by a wealthy few. Most of land in current use is owned by not wealthy people who have 30-40 acres or less. It lets them keep their land undeveloped for enjoyment by everyone, and keeps property taxes lower. I realize this bill does not do away with current use, but I think it makes changes that are too restrictive and not in the best interest of the tax payers of NH.
