I work as a board member and officer for a lake protection association. We are deeply engaged in educating and building awareness of contaminants that can enter our watershed and degrade water quality. This occurs from salt, septic, and chemicals that are carried into our lakes and ponds via runoff. We must do everything possible to stop contaminated runoff from entering our watersheds. Our lakes and ponds are under great stress and now is the time to pay attention and change our behaviors. What happens on land matters for our lakes. If our lakes degrade, it will be economically devastating for communities and our state. Every safeguard we institute will help.
