I strongly oppose the removal of MTSS-B support in schools. MTSS-B is not only critical for students who require direct social-emotional and behavioral support, but it also positively impacts the learning environment for every student in the building. MTSS-B provides students with the emotional regulation skills and coping strategies they need to function successfully in a classroom setting. When students are supported in managing their emotions, behaviors, and social interactions, they are better able to engage in learning, build healthy peer relationships, and meet academic expectations. This foundation benefits not only individual students but also classrooms as a whole. Without MTSS-B supports in place, we can expect an increase in behavioral challenges that disrupt instruction and reduce overall learning time. These disruptions place additional strain on teachers and support staff, contributing to increased burnout and decreased staff retention. Furthermore, the lack of proactive behavioral support often shifts schools into a reactive model, leading to greater parental frustration and concern when student needs are not adequately addressed. MTSS-B is a preventative, research-based framework that supports student success, staff well-being, and a positive school climate. Removing it would undermine the stability of our classrooms and negatively affect students, educators, and families alike. For these reasons, maintaining MTSS-B support is essential to ensuring a safe, effective, and equitable learning environment for all .
