NH’s scenic beauty and recreational opportunities, along with its strong tourism, forestry and agricultural industries would not exist today if our Current Use law did not exist. Landowners would simply not be able to afford to keep their open space undeveloped without it. Open space clearly benefits all of us who live in New Hampshire for more reasons than I need to list in this submission. Every year, New Hampshire’s Current Use Board establishes the criteria and rates to be used for Current Use, and they solicit public comment in forums held around the state. We need to let this board manage this long-standing conservation tool and not undermine it or alter it. Thank you for your consideration.
