I believe we, as a community, have a responsibility to each other to protect one another. Vaccines are proven to protect communities. They are a very low cost form of public health. If families choose not to vaccinate, they should bear the cost of any related health care associated with the specific diseases for which they have chosen not to vaccinate. They should also bear the cost of treatment of children and elderly who are medically unable to be vaccinated who contract diseases from people who choose against vaccination. This is about cost savings, and basic 'love thy neighbor.'
