Robyn Kozierok | Oppose HB1671

I oppose HB 1671 because it would jeopardize access to care for Medicaid patients by financially destabilizing healthcare facilities that serve our most vulnerable populations. Withholding Medicaid payments risks facility closures, reduced services, and higher costs shifted to taxpayers. It is both reasonable and responsible for healthcare facilities to require certain vaccinations as a condition of employment or training. These policies are designed to protect patients—particularly the elderly, immunocompromised, and medically fragile—from preventable disease transmission in clinical settings. Facilities are best positioned to assess infection control needs and should retain the authority to set evidence-based safety standards without facing financial punishment. This bill undermines patient safety, local decision-making, and the stability of the healthcare system, with patients ultimately bearing the cost.
