As a former Ward Clerk and a current Selectman in Ward 4 in Keene, I strongly oppose this HB1062. This bill is insulting to Town and City Clerks and all of the election workers throughout the state. Election officials attend training sessions leading up to each election. We approach our jobs with seriousness and particular care for accuracy. Perhaps the Legislators who wrote and put this bill forward should spend an entire day in a polling place in a New Hampshire town or city. They should begin the day setting up the polling place so it accessible to all voters at 6:30 AM and stay until 10 or 11 PM when the Ward Clerk reports the election results to the City Clerk. They would find out that there is no reason to make random audits of our work unless it is bigotry toward immigrants.
