As a lifelong homeowner on an island on Lake Wentworth (our family has owned our cottage for over 100 years) I and my family are becoming increasingly alarmed by the many cyanobacteria blooms occurring more and more frequently. Several times in the past few years we've had to wash dishes in bottled water (no wells on the island), keep pets from drinking lake water, not to mention staying out of the water ourselves. Family with small children have canceled their vacations when a bloom has been active. My neighbor's 4 year old was throwing up after swimming last summer. We absolutely need to know what we can do to decrease the amount of blooms in our lakes!
