As a professional working to ensure food security for Granite Staters for 13 years, I can attest that SNAP is the most powerful tool in our anti-hunger tool box. If the SNAP program were to be weakened, there are no other systems in our communities that could stand up to fill the gap and ensure that everyone would be able to access the food they need to stay healthy and productive. I share this perspective from the point of view of someone who has witnessed the incredibly generous, dedicated, industrious efforts that citizens across the state invest every day, through the sharing of their dollars and countless hours of volunteer time, to provide charitable solutions for the gaps that remain after federal nutrition programs do not fully reach to meet everyone's nutritional needs. Now more than ever, when affordability challenges are putting unprecedented pressures on family budgets, we must ensure that the SNAP program remains strong and reliable to support a healthy and thriving Granite State.
