As a New Hampshire educator with over 40 years experience in New Hampshire schools (public and private), I oppose House Bill 1778. It creates confusion around personal identity, as well as creates a false problem based upon political, not educational, interests. It is punitive for anyone who trespasses on this bill, which is too vague and spreads too wide a net in its definitions. Children, especially young children, are innately curious about themselves and others. For me, it is a keystone in the curriculum to explore children's lives from all over the world. We find when we truly hear others' stories, that we are more alike than different. This House Bill demonizes people and lays a foundation of fear in our children. And that is one reason why we're in the mess we are now in America. Gretchen Draper
