I want to believe that our society is better than to subject defenseless animals to psychological torture by chasing them- terrified- around a ring for "entertainment." We know better. Let's do better. Pigs are extremely intelligent animals who have real feelings. They can and do suffer in "pig scrambles." PERHAPS we could justify these activities decades ago before we knew incontrovertibly that pigs have feelings, but now we know for SURE and there is absolutely no excuse for these events. These events are cruel, as is what happens to the pigs before and after these events (sent home with the "winner" to eventually go to slaughter, sometimes confined in inhumane conditions in extreme heat without access to water, or literally bagged like an inanimate object). It's time to replace cruel traditions with new ones. Just because we have done this before does not mean it's right to keep doing it.
