Cost of living here is already high enough. Creating a minimum wage versus defaulting to the federal minimum would simply raise our costs even more. You can see that in all the high minimum wage states. Furthermore, nobody is really hiring at minimum wage. If someone takes that job, they're doing it purely for political purposes. Even the barest basic job at the Lancaster Shaws is starting at $13 and most folks just grab that as a side gig for benefit purposes. I don't necessarily believe the federal wage is high enough, but it's not something the state needs to worry about. The market sorts itself out-if you want employees, you have to compensate them appropriately.
