HB 1370 undermines transparency by removing the requirement for public schools to report when they lack policies for gifted and talented students. These "null" reports are essential data points that provide a clear map of where educational needs are currently being ignored. Without this requirement, schools can quietly let these programs disappear without public scrutiny or accountability. Reducing paperwork should not come at the expense of public information. If we stop requiring schools to admit when they lack specialized support, we lose the ability to identify gaps in our education system and advocate for the resources these students deserve. Maintaining this simple reporting requirement ensures that parents and the public remain informed about the true state of gifted education across all New Hampshire districts.
