We need workforce housing The current minimum wage of $7.25 x 40 hours x 52 weeks /12=$1256.67, Where do people live if they only earn $7.25 but they need to have 3.5x the rent amount to qualify to rent? Low income housing won’t even accept them because that income is too low. Even if they earn $12 an hour full time that’s only $2080 a month, If someone needs to earn 3.5x the rent to qualify to rent, at $12 an hour full time they would have to find a unit where the rent is $594.29 a month. Even if they have a roommate I don’t know of any 2 bedroom apartments that are only $1200 near anywhere someone could work for $12.00 an hour.
