I am 88 years old and have lived on Pleasant Lake in New London all my life either seasonally when I was a child and now full time. Only in the most recent years has this lake experienced algae blooms and cyanobacteria. It is most distressing as our Pleasant Lake Protection Association has worked hard to prevent these problems. Thankfully our local Colby-Sawyer College mapped all the streams and brooks entering the lake. They have begun monitoring. Last summer we had several blooms. Hopefully the state of NH will reinforce local efforts with the best information and together "all hands on deck" NH's treasured fresh water will be enjoyed and protected forever.
