Amy Agostino | Oppose HB1792

This bill is once again an attempt to censor what teachers can talk about in their classrooms. "Critical race theory" is a law-school graduate level course. No one is teaching critical race theory in schools; it would seem that some of our state legislators want to change the definition of the term to mean that no one can talk about race, which makes no sense. Please let the teachers teach history; we parents don't want the state government spending so much time and effort trying to censor classroom speech. Hearing that gay people exist isn't going to make kids gay. Hearing about black people isn't going to ... turn kids black? I'm not even sure what the fear is there. Please work on funding public education, and let the teachers teach.
