If passed, this bill will have severe negative impact on non-profit organizations doing important work across the state by disrupting their financial ability to meet the essential needs of those they serve. Citizens from infancy to the elderly, the unhoused, those who suffer from mental illness, Opioid use disorder, the differently abled,.. and more. Then there are the animals. The many rescues, rehabilitation centers, wildlife rehabbers, equine therapy centers, wildlife education centers. The list goes on and on. Many of these places will be forced to close or drastically change the way they serve their communities. I currently work at a senior center. Along with our social activities, we also provide our senior community with rides to medical appointments both in town and across the state as well as rides to the grocery store, pharmacy, etc. We are their only source of transportation. If we were forced to close or cut the program, hundreds of elderly citizens would struggle to get proper medical care and food. Cancer patients. Dialysis patients, Cardiac patients. Blind patients. Dementia patients. That's just ONE non-profit that would be affected. One out of thousands that own property in the state. HB1293 will cause great harm to the citizens of New Hampshire.
