As Treasurer of Center Harbor Congregational Church, I can attest that a personal property tax on the value of the Church's property would be a financial strain that the Church may not be able to survive. We are already having to withdraw from our investment funds to cover 24% of the annual operating costs of the church. We play an active role in town events, such as Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, our building and music from our carillon are part of the historical charm of the town center, and we offer space needed by community groups, such as the Soup Kitchen, AA, and Al-Anon. We also contribute to the community with a preschool serving local children and an outdoor, walk-up food pantry for local residents in need. We oppose this bill and ask that you vote against it. Thank you for your consideration.
