Carrie Whittemore

Dear Members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, My name is Carrie Whittemore. I’m a New Hampshire taxpayer, a grandparent, and a retired public school teacher, and I’m writing to oppose HB 1093. I spent time in my working career as a teacher and a coach in public education, and I’ve seen up close how much our schools do with so little. I’ve watched teachers stretch resources, families step up to support classrooms, and schools work tirelessly to serve EVERY child who walks through their doors. As a grandparent, I want a strong, well-funded public school system for my grandchildren and for EVERY CHILD in our state, not just those who have the disposable income to afford private education.. HB 1093 prioritizes charter school funding ahead of public schools, many of which are already struggling to meet basic needs. That feels wrong to me. Our public schools are the heart of our communities. They serve ALL students, are accountable to local voters, and deserve to come first when it comes to funding. I believe New Hampshire should be investing in and strengthening public education—not pulling resources away from it. I respectfully urge you to vote Inexpedient to Legislate on HB 1093. Thank you for listening and for your service to our state. Sincerely, Carrie Whittemore New Hampshire
