Charles Clark

I am writing to express strong opposition to this bill. Removal of the property tax exemption would cause irreparable harm to the nonprofit I run, as well as our many nonprofit partner organizations. Balancing budgets by taxing nonprofits risks the destruction of important social and cultural services that are essential to our communities. Passage of this bill could lead to reduced capacity or even closure of critical programs such as homeless services, food pantries, and childcare, as well as decimating museums and performing arts organizations that make up the important cultural fabric of New Hampshire. I urge all members of the committee to deem HB 1293 inexpedient to legislate.
