Susan Mayer | Support HB1750

I support making a $4.4M supplemental appropriation to DHHS to keep SNAP running to make up for the decrease in federal cost sharing. Without this bill, over 76,000 New Hampshire residents will lose access to SNAP—and to food. The Trump administration initially engaged in illegal impoundment of funds for SNAP appropriated by Congress, and considering that Congress has not done its duty and cancelled Trump's illegal tariffs, which are driving inflation and food costs ever higher, our state needs to step up and make sure tens of thousands of Granite Staters don't go hungry. After all, the NH Republican majority can find lots of money for private school vouchers, so surely they can see fit to feed the hungry?
