I have been told by the City's tax clerk that the current method being used to calculate property taxes is based solely on the average price of home sales x the current $1,000 per thousand rate. That does not accommodate any potential tax abatement/relief for those of us who live in an HOA location that does not receive any 03301 services because the developer built the neighborhood with a private access road. This proposed method of property tax calculation will address the much needed tax relief for many residents, while shifting the financial weight onto those who are in a better position to handle it. As important: the school funding will not be affected by this new method.
