Are your property taxes too high? Same. HB 1648 would create a $300,000 property tax exemption for primary residences, meaning the first $300K of a home’s value would no longer be taxed by SWEPT. That would provide real relief for most homeowners by reducing taxes for homes valued less than $800K. At the same time: • Higher-value properties would contribute more • Out-of-state homeowners would pay more • Total funding for public schools stays the same This would shift some of the tax burden off most homeowners without decreasing school funding.
