Many historic non-profits have estate property that is priceless. The land and buildings could be assessed at multi millions. The non-profit exists to preserve and maintain these special places, and keep them available to the public. For the majority it is difficult to break even year after year... the cost of preserving an historic property is significant. Taxing these organizations at any level would certainly add a burden that would ultimately hurt tourism and the public. How about municipalities and school districts take a serious look at trimming fat from their budgets before trying to raise more revenue - especially from a segment that is serving the public and already struggling.
