I've been a ballot clerk in New Hampshire for many years now, and I gotta tell you, this bill just look like it's going to cause loads of problems for New Hampshire voters. How exactly is everyone supposed to apply for this New Hampshire citizenship? Are we expecting literally everyone in the state to go fill out this paperwork and get the card you're proposing? Or dig up their birth certificates to bring to the registration table? Do you have any idea how many people we would end up turning away from the polls because they don't realize you now have this weird new requirement? People move between states all the time. Are we supposed to take these loyalty oaths and then break them every time someone gets a new job or decides to move closer to support aging family or grandkids? It's such a weird bill that seems mainly aimed at preventing students from voting here. I personally think students should have a right to vote here, but if that's really the bee in your bonnet, find a less crazy way to go about doing it, please.
