So-called "undocumented" immigrants are often in various stages of applying for legal status in this country, and that's an incredibly complex and nuanced system. Landlords aren't qualified to assess the legality of someone's immigration status. Even people here legally would be subjected to increased scrutiny and processes under this bill. Why are we trying to make New Hampshire a more hostile environment for immigrants? Businesses are struggling to find good workers and our population keeps getting older. Encouraging skilled immigrants to settle here is a smart move for our economy.
