Janet Johnston

Dear Members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, I am writing to express my strong support for HB 1364, which would require quarterly reporting from counties, municipalities, and other political subdivisions that enter into agreements with the federal government related to immigration enforcement assistance. This bill is an important step toward transparency and accountability in government. Agreements that involve cooperation with federal immigration authorities can have significant legal, financial, and community impacts. Requiring regular public reporting ensures that elected officials and the public have clear insight into how these agreements are structured, implemented, and funded. HB 1364 does not prohibit cooperation with the federal government. Instead, it promotes responsible governance by ensuring that such cooperation is openly documented and subject to legislative and public review. Transparency strengthens trust in government and helps ensure that local resources are being used appropriately and in alignment with New Hampshire’s laws and values. I respectfully urge you to vote in favor of HB 1364 and support greater oversight, clarity, and accountability in these matters. Thank you for your time and consideration, and for your service to the people of New Hampshire. Respectfully, Janet Johnston
