Dear Representatives, I am writing to ask for your opposition to HB1132. I am a Senior at Windham High School, and one of the hallmarks that my school has maintained is the country flags in our atrium. To add to that, the flags have never been opposed, to my recollection. This was initiated by Passport Club, a cultural club I am a part of at Windham High School, and putting up country flags requested by our community members is at risk under HB1132. As the line in HB1132 says, no flags “other than the flag of the United States of America, the New Hampshire state flag, and the POW/MIA flag.” This would conflict with a current mission of New Hampshire’s longing for a more diverse state. Furthermore, New Hampshire is becoming more diverse. By approving HB1132, it raises questions about the legitimacy of the claim of attempting to become more diverse, and questions the true sincerity of where our Representatives’ priorities are. Please vote against HB1132 for my community, and for the sake of legitimacy.
