Mike C

Honorable Committee Members, I urge you to vote Inexpedient to Legislate (ITL) on HB 1216. This bill would expand warrantless searches to real property, such as homes and other structures, in the same way that law enforcement can currently attempt to search vehicles. This is a clear violation of our Fourth Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. The Fourth Amendment exists specifically to protect citizens from unreasonable searches of their homes. Current law already allows exceptions for genuine emergencies, which is sufficient for real property. There is no need to further erode these constitutional protections. Our homes should remain our castles, protected from government intrusion without proper judicial oversight. I respectfully urge you to reject HB 1216 and vote Inexpedient to Legislate. Respectfully, Mike C Concord, NH
