Margaret Franckhauser

Members of the Committee: My name is Margaret Franckhauser. I am a resident of New Hampton, NH and a registered nurse. I am submitting testimony in support of HB 1364. The disastrous actions we have witnessed during the past month in Minneapolis demonstrate that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have engaged in extreme and violent behaviors toward immigrants and bonafide citizens who are exercising their right to peacefully protest federal activities. In NH, certain governmental entities have pledged to support ICE agents when they are in their communities. These entities are paid by NH residents, and NH residents deserve to know when and where they are deployed, what actions they have taken, and what the results of their actions are. NH must require public reporting when its own officers and agents act as support to ICE. This bill will require regular reporting on the activities of NH governmental officers and entities as they partner with ICE agents. These reports must be made available to the public, not hidden from our citizens. This bill is a step to require that accountability. I urge you to support this bill.
