Law enforcement officers must be visibly and audibly distinct from criminals in appearance and action for the safety of both the officers and the public. An individual is justified in defending themselves using whatever means necessary when approached by an unidentified masked assailant. Our NH officers sworn to serve and protect the public through legal means should not look or behave like criminals in the course of duty.
