New Hampshire House Bill 1132 undermines the principles of free expression and local control that are essential to education. Schools should be places where students learn about democratic values, including the respectful exchange of ideas and symbols, not where expression is narrowly limited by statute. Restricting which flags may be displayed risks politicizing classrooms and silencing voices rather than encouraging understanding and civic engagement. New Hampshire’s schools are best served by policies that promote inclusion, critical thinking, and freedom of expression—not rigid state mandates.
