I urge you to oppose HB1132, which would ban Pride flags in classrooms and unnecessarily restrict teachers’ ability to create safe, welcoming learning environments. Pride flags are not political indoctrination; they are simple symbols of inclusion that tell LGBTQ+ students—and students with LGBTQ+ family members—that they are seen, respected, and valued at school. Research and lived experience consistently show that students learn better when they feel safe and supported, and policies that single out one group’s identity for removal do the opposite. HB1132 would silence educators, marginalize vulnerable students, and undermine the core educational mission of fostering respect and belonging for all. I respectfully ask you to vote no on HB1132 and support policies that protect every student’s dignity and well-being.
