As an educator, I believe it’s unconscionable to limit freedom of expression in public schools. School should be a safe place and welcome all. Inclusion of flags of all kinds create a welcoming environment for individuals who have strong, cultural affiliations with other countries. It communicates safe spaces for members of the LGTQ plus community. As a history teacher, it becomes imperative at times to show flags of different nations to communicate what happens in both national politics and the world stage. Restricting this motive communication is a clear attack on diversity, equity, and inclusion and does not belong in New Hampshire schools.
