I am a co-sponsor of HCR 12 and a retired physician who in 37 years of practice saw every possible form of reimbursement, prior authorization maneuvers by insurance companies to avoid payment, and ultimately a lot of uncompensated care. Managed care has been added to the confusion of American health care consumers, their providers and the institutions they depend upon for everything from emergency care to long term services and support. The system is broken. It’s time to think outside this broken down box. It’s time to stop forcing health care givers to pay for software so their billers can deal with dozens of different coding and payment systems, increasing the cost of everyone’s health care, It’s time to remove entrepreneurial intruders who add absolutely no value. It’s time to prevent medical emergencies from turning into bankruptcies. I’ve concluded that Medicare for all with optional private insurance based upon different levels of Part B for those who desire it (and can afford it) is the best way forward. Vote OTP on HCR 12.
