As an educator, I oppose NH HB1132 because restricting which flags may be displayed in schools sends a harmful message about whose identities and experiences are considered acceptable. Flags are often used to signal inclusion, safety, and belonging, especially for students who may already feel marginalized. Removing that ability does not create neutrality; it creates silence and exclusion. Schools should be places where all students feel seen and supported, and limiting symbolic expressions of inclusion undermines that mission rather than strengthening it.
